Speaking of the entire action of the match, Delhi faced a bit of trouble in the first innings with the bat as it was only the skipper Lanning who played an individual knock of 30+ runs (35 runs off 29 balls with five boundaries). Other than her, the lower-order batters Shikha Pandey and Radha Yadav also contributed with the crucial 27 runs each off 17 and 12 balls.
On the back of these knocks, Delhi somehow managed to put in a total of 131 runs for the loss of nine wickets in the first 20 overs of the match. Issy Wong and Hayle Matthews scalped three wickets each including two wickets claimed by Amelia Kerr.
While chasing the target, Mumbai's batting got crumbled as they lost both the openers Yastika Bhatia and Hayley Matthews on the team’s total score of 23 runs in 3.4 overs. Following this, skipper Harmanpreet Kaur and senior batter Nat Sciver-Brunt stitched a crucial partnership of 72 runs for the third wicket to bring Mumbai back in the match; although Kaur got fallen the web of her own mistake and went back to the pavilion in a run-out on the individual score of 37 runs and team’s total score of 95 runs.
But it was the pair of Sciver-Brunt and Amelia Kerr that crossed the line for Mumbai and scored 134 runs for the loss of three wickets in 19.3 overs to win the match by seven wickets.
Eventually, the outstanding performer of the day, Nat Sciver-Brunt won the ‘player of the match award for her brilliant match-defining performance of 60 runs off 55 balls with seven boundaries in favor of the inaugural champions.
