On 18 January 2023, Abu Dhabi Knight Riders took on Desert Vipers in the ongoing International League T20 (ILT20). It was the seventh match of the competition. The Abu Dhabi side were looking for their first-ever win in the history of the tournament. So, fans were hoping for a better performance from them.

Speaking of the match, Desert Vipers won the toss and opted to bowl first. For Abu Dhabi Knight Riders, Brandon King and Kennar Lewis came out to open the innings. However, Lewis departed early after scoring just one run off three balls. Then, Dhananjaya de Silva came and got out for just five runs off four balls.

Fans came up with different opinions regarding the whole matter in ILT20

Then, Colin Ingram scored 15 runs off 20 balls, including two fours. After that, Charith Asalanka scored 26 runs off 21 balls, including one four and one six. Brandon King scored 57 runs off 44 balls, including five fours and two sixes. Finally, they managed to score 133 runs for eight wickets in 20 overs. For Desert Vipers, Wanindu Hasaranga took three wickets for 18 runs in four overs. Apart from him, Gus Atkinson took two wickets while Sheldon Cottrell and Rohan Mustafa took one wicket each.

In reply, Alex Hales and Rohan Mustafa came out to open the innings. Mustafa scored 23 runs off 11 balls, including five fours. Hales scored 64 runs off 47 balls, including seven fours and one six. Sam Billings remained not out on 35* runs off 29 balls, including two fours. For Abu Dhabi Knight Riders, three bowlers managed to take one wicket each. But, a funny incident took place during the 15th over of the Desert Vipers’ innings. On the fourth delivery of that over, Narine bowled a shortish delivery that Rutherford sliced to the off-side. Sabir Ali tried his best to stop the ball and he did it. But, a ball boy collected the ball and gave it to him. Umpires and players were confused. They also checked whether to give a four or dead ball for field obstruction. Finally, players got only three runs on that ball. Hence, Abu Dhabi remained the winless team in the ongoing ILT20.
