Recent media reports in Indian cricket have learned that the former Indian pacer Ajit Agarkar is among the frontrunners to be the chief selector of Team India. Notably, the post is vacant since the infamous ‘sting’ episode involving the former chief selector, Chetan Sharma.

Subsequently, Indian cricket fans came up with various opinions on this news after the speculations and assumptions started making rounds on social media. Fans took to the micro-blogging site Twitter and mentioned various things surrounding the selection committee’s concern regarding the Indian Team at the highest level of the game.

Meanwhile, the governing body of cricket has also announced the schedule for the ODI World Cup 2023 which is to be played in India. The tournament will start on the 5th of October later this year with the inaugural match of the tournament between the defending champions England and the runners-up of World Cup 2019, New Zealand.

The Rohit Sharma-led Team India will start their campaign in the tournament with the first match against the five-time World Cup Champions, Australia. India and Australia will lock horns in their first group-stage match at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Sunday, the 8th of October 2023.

Team India will be facing their arch-rivals Pakistan in the high-octane clash on Sunday, the 15th of October 2023.
