Indian skipper Rohit Sharma has heaped praise on the former skipper and the batting superstar, Virat Kohli. Sharma reckoned that Kohli is undoubtedly a world-class player and he also ranked his cover drive technique above all the rest of the currently active batters in the world.

"Virat Kohli has the best technique in cover drive,” said Rohit Sharma while answering a rapid-fire question on Vimal Kumar’s YouTube channel.

Notably, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli showed brilliant form in the third and last ODI of the recently concluded three-match ODI series against Australia. Rohit scored 81 runs followed by Kohli’s 56-run knock; although their knocks went in vain as India lost the match by 66 runs. But still, the batting form of both the veterans has come as a very positive sign for India while they are heading to the upcoming ODI World Cup 2023 in their backyard.

India to play Australia in their ODI World Cup 2023 campaign opener

Speaking of Team India, they will start their run in the ODI World Cup 2023 with their campaign opener against the five-time World Cup champion, Australia. Both teams will play this match at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Sunday, October 8.

Prior to that, the men in blue will also gear up their World Cup preparations with two warm-up matches against England and the Netherlands on September 30 and October 3, respectively. Rohit Sharma’s men will be eyeing to end the 12-year-long drought of the ODI World Cup trophy for India since they won it last time in 2011 under MS Dhoni’s captaincy.

Meanwhile, the Indian management had to make a last-minute change in their World Cup squad as they replaced the injured Axar Patel with the veteran off-spin all-rounder Ravichandran Ashwin in the 15-men primary squad.

Ashwin was also a part of the playing XI in the recently concluded three-match ODI series against Australia, in which he showcased some good performances.
