The Men's ODI World Cup 2023 is less than four months away, however, neither the Cricket Governing Body nor the Indian Cricket Board have released an official schedule.

While the event is tentatively scheduled to begin on October 5 and finish in November, the precise dates for the ODI World Cup have yet to be revealed. During the World Test Championship (WTC) Final in London last week.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is thought to be upset that India vs. Pakistan game on October 15 is slated to take place at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Pakistan's remaining World Cup matches are scheduled to be played in Hyderabad, Bangalore, Chennai, and Kolkata.

According to a report in The Telegraph newspaper, the Pakistan Ministry of foreign affairs has not yet cleared Ahmedabad due to security concerns. Even if the government approves the game in Ahmedabad, the PCB wants the Cricket Governing Body to assure the safety of the players.

A source said, in ‘The Telegraph’ newspaper, 'Since the tour is dependent on permission from the government, the PCB has forwarded the documents to the ministry concerned which is looking into it. Given the sensitivity of the situation, a call will be taken based on what the government has to say.'

'The PCB has been given a time-frame to study the draft schedule and is abiding by it before giving its consent. Cricketing matters regarding the World Cup will be reviewed by the Pakistan Board while anything related to security and other issues is being dealt with by the government and other agencies concerned,' the source added.

The PCB is said to have discussed the matter during Cricket Governing Body chairman Greg Barclay's and CEO Geoff Allardice's visit to Lahore last month. The formal schedule was due to be revealed last week at the WTC Final, but the PCB objected until the BCCI accepted to their 'hybrid model' for the Asia Cup 2023. The 'hybrid model' states that India would play their Asia Cup matches in Sri Lanka, while the remainder of the event will be hosted in Pakistan.
