The much-anticipated World Test Championship (WTC) 2021-23 Final got underway on June 7. This cycle’s final is being played between India and Australia. Batting first, the Aussies posted 469 in their first innings with Steve Smith and Travis Head registering triple-digit scores. In reply, India suffered a top-order collapse. Ajinkya Rahane and Ravindra Jadeja had a partnership going. However, Jadeja was dismissed for 48 off 51 balls towards the end of Day 3.

Day 3 saw KS Bharat being dismissed early for India. Following his dismissal, Shardul Thakur and Ajinkya Rahane have tried to steady the ship for India as they have reached 220/6 after 52 overs. Rahane has completed his half-century while Shardul Thakur has received a start that he and India would desperately want to turn into a big innings. However, there might one other player who could play a big part for India.

June 12 would be a reserve day in case of rain in the WTC Final

Accuweather predicts rain on Days 4 and 5 of the coveted WTC Final. The first three days of the Test are anticipated to be dry; however, the final two days of the Test could see rain. In the first two days of the match, the weather is described as "mostly sunny and pleasant," changing to "partial sunshine" on Day 3.

A 'couple of showers and a thunderstorm' are predicted for the fourth day (Saturday) in the afternoon, which could impede play during the second and third sessions. On Friday, there is a general 72% chance of rain, which rises to 88% on Day 5. On the final day, a thunderstorm is expected in the morning, followed by showers.

However, there is a reserve day option that can be used to make up time missed during the five days of the Test due to rain or thunderstorms. It's interesting to note that the reserve day was also implemented during the WTC Final two years ago when the first day of the Test was completely rained out between India and New Zealand.
