Jasprit Bumrah has been out from competitive cricket since September 2022. He was struggling with a back issue and had to undergo surgery. Following this, the pacer has been rehabilitated at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru. However, there is finally some positive news about the situation of the pacer. He has been seen bowling his full quota of overs at the nets in NCA. In the latest update, Jasprit Bumrah posted a few photos of him bowling full throttle in the nets accompanied by the background song, ‘Coming Home’ by Diddy, hinting at a return soon.

It was earlier reported that Jasprit Bumrah will be back for the series against Ireland. The fact that NCA chief VVS Laxman would be the head coach of the team for the tour further hints at a possible comeback. VVS Laxman has closely monitored Bumrah’s recovery at the NCA. It was also reported earlier that Laxman would be the only person with updates regarding Bumrah. No media reports were asked to be believed by the Indian Cricket Board. As such, the move to appoint him as the head coach could also be to keep a keen eye on the pacer’s progress in a competitive setup.

Shreyas Iyer will not accompany Bumrah in the Ireland tour, Reports  

It was also reported that Shreyas Iyer would be making his comeback alongside Bumrah in the upcoming tour of Ireland in August. However, according to the latest updates, Iyer’s comeback in the Ireland tour or the subsequent Asia Cup is highly unlikely. Similarly, the situation of KL Rahul also remains blurry. While he was spotted in the nets at the NCA, he is not expected to play a part in the Ireland tour or the Asia Cup. There is a slim possibility that the wicketkeeper batter is being preserved for the ODI World Cup 2023.

Moreover, the NCA has made it mandatory for players with prolonged injury issues to take part in domestic cricket first before bouncing back to the national side. The trio of Bumrah, Rahul, and Iyer are expected to take part in NCA practice matches shortly to judge their match fitness.
