Delhi, in the absence of their regular skipper Rishabh Pant, are playing their campaign opener against Lucknow in the Indian T20 League 2023. Both teams are playing this match at the AB Vajpayee Ekana Stadium in Lucknow. The stand-in skipper for visitors, David Warner won the toss and asked Lucknow to bat first at quite a bit tricky surface of Ekana Stadium.
Notably, Delhi’s regular skipper Rishabh Pant is also a center of discussion among cricket experts, commentators, and Delhi fans as well. In a special gesture of remembering Rishabh Pant, the franchise placed his jersey with its number 17 in the dugout of the team.
Subsequently, a few of the fans appreciated it as a good gesture but a wider section of the fans took it as an opportunity to troll Delhi by mentioning that the 25-year-old is still alive and this awkward kind of gesture seems like a tribute to him.

Notably, Rishabh Pant was ruled out of the entire edition of the Indian T20 League due to the massive injury that he sustained in a road accident that he met last year on the 30th of December 2022. Currently, the southpaw is undergoing recovery after a successful surgery under the supervision of the Indian Cricket Board’s official medical team.
