Women's T20 League

The Women's T20 League has arrived as a revolution for women's cricket in the Indian cricketing scenario. The tournament has produced thrilling matches in the three clashes so far between the participating teams. Apart from that, it has also brought some domestic names of women's cricket to the main picture of Indian cricket.

But above all, the first-ever edition of this Women's franchise tournament has also brought a major change in the decision-making scenario for umpires. It is none other than regarding the Decision Review System (DRS) that the players have used for out and not out.

But, thanks to the Women's T20 League; the DRS facility will be available for players to overturn umpires' decisions for wides and no-balls. The same rule will also be applicable in the upcoming men's Indian T20 League starting later this month from the 31st of March.

Subsequently, Indian cricket fans have also come up with a lot of interesting reactions to the same. Meanwhile, they also recalled an incident with Delhi skipper Rishabh Pant when he told Rovman Powell to come back from the field after a controversial no-ball decision by the umpire. It happened last year in the 2022 edition of the Indian T20 League.

Here's how fans reacted:

According to the rules and playing conditions in the ongoing Women's T20 League, "A player may request a review of any decision taken by the on-field umpires concerning whether or not a batter is dismissed, with the exception of 'Timed Out' (Player Review). A player may also be allowed to review any decision taken by on-field umpires concerning wide or no-ball."

Notably, the players have used this DRS system for wide and no-balls in all three matches played so far in the tournament. Recently, the Gujarat skipper Sneh Rana used it in the match against UP to overturn the umpire's decision.
