Notably, Markram guided the sister team of the Hyderabad franchise, Sunrisers Eastern Cape in the recently-concluded SA20 2023 to a historic title in the inaugural edition. Alongside his brilliant captaincy, Markram also won the player of the tournament award for his outstanding performance with the bat and crucial 11 wickets with the bowl as well.
Markram scored 366 runs in the tournament with a sensational century in the semi-final of the tournament against Joburg Super Kings at the Centurion.
Speaking of his career in the Indian T20 League, the 28-year-old made his debut two years back in the year 2021 while playing for the Punjab franchise. Since then, he has played 20 matches so far in these two years; and has accumulated 527 runs with an amazing average of 40.54 with three centuries to his name in 18 innings.
He also finished the SA20 2023 as the third-highest run-scorer following Jos Buttler and Faf du Plessis. The centurion batter aggregated runs with a decent average of 33.27 including a century and a half-century on his credit.
