Team India had a forgettable 2022 year when it comes to their performance, especially in the major tournaments. First, they had a chance to win the Test series in England. But, India lost the rescheduled fifth Test. Thus, the series ended 2-2. Then, all fans were hoping for a better result in the Asia Cup.
But, they failed to qualify for the final. Then, India had an opportunity to win the 20-20 World Cup after 2007. But, again, in the semi-final, the Men in Blue lost to England. So, it was another heartbreak moment for the players and the fans. After that event, India went to New Zealand for a T20I and ODI series.

But, Rohit Sharma and his men shocked everyone by losing the ODI series against Bangla Tigers. However, KL Rahul led the team to a 2-0 victory in the following Test series. However, it was the last assignment for them in 2022.
But, in 2023, they managed to get a good start. First, at home, India defeated Sri Lanka in both the ODI and T20I series. After that, reports came out that team India can become the number one team in ODIs if they defeat New Zealand 3-0. However, ON 25 January 2023, Rohit Sharma and his men completed the clean sweep over the Kiwis in the ODI series. Thus, they became the new number-one ranked team in the ODI format. Along with this format, India are currently the second-ranked team in Tests while the number one-ranked team in T20Is.
