Pakistan opener Abid Ali was rushed to hospital after he suffered from severe chest pain while playing in the Quaid-e- Azam Trophy’s final round match. According to reports, Abid felt pain twice while batting against Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. After a considerable amount of discomfort, he returned to the pavilion. The batter was attended by doctors and underwent multiple tests and scans. Central Punjab’s manager Ashraf Ali spoke to Express News and revealed that he will give an update on Abid's health after proper evaluation

"Nothing can be said right now, the real situation will be revealed only after the check-up," Ashraf told this correspondent.

Abid had a good outing with the bat for Central Punjab as he managed to score a vital 49 in the second innings. His efforts coupled with a good all-round display by Central Punjab enabled them to beat Pakhtunkhwa by 371 runs. The seasoned campaigner has been in sizzling form for his state side in the current season of the championship.

The 34-year-old is leading the batting charts for Central Punjab and has scored 766 runs in just six games. The right-hand batter was also seen in rich vein of form against Bangladesh in the team’s recent 2-0 series win. He was also the highest run-scorer in that series and scored 263 runs at a whopping average of 87.67.

In just a short period of time, Abid has managed to cement his place in Pakistan’s Test side. The right-hand batter has played 16 Tests and has scored 1180 runs at an average of 49.17. Pakistan will next be seen against Australia in the all-format series which is slated to begin on March 3, 2022. The teams will play three Test matches, as many ODIs, and a sole T20I.
