England defeated India by 17 runs to win the third T20I of the series. The hosts went all-out to score a huge total in the first innings. India followed it up with another extraordinary batting display, with Suryakuar Yaday holding the mantle. The India team came very close to chasing the target but fell just short. The three-match T20I series ended with a scoreline of 2-1.

Jos Buttler won the toss and elected to bat first at the Trent Bridge. The home side had a brilliant start with the bat despite losing the skipper early on. Jason Roy and Dawid Malan got some quick runs in the powerplay, taking the team total to 52. However, the team lost two quick wickets. Roy (27) and Philip Salt (eight) were dismissed by the 10th over for a score of 84.

Malan then exploded as he kept the boundaries flowing. With Liam Livingstone at the other end, he had the freedom to play his quick game. The two added 84 runs in the partnership, with Malan (77) doing the bulk of the work. He was finally dismissed by Ravi Bishnoi in the 17th over. Livingstone then continued from where he left off, despite a few wickets falling at the other end.

His score of 42 runs in 29 balls helped the team get to a total of 215 runs. In the chase, India did not get off to an ideal start. They lost three wickets within the powerplay on a pitch that looked good to bat on. Rishabh Pant (one), Virat Kohli (11), and Rohit Sharma (11) were all dismissed for a team score of 31 runs in five overs.

Suryakumar Yadav and Shreyas Iyer, on the other hand, helped to stabilise the innings following early wickets. While the former was scoring quick runs, the latter supported him well. Suryakumar kept scoring boundaries and reached his half-century in the 12th over. He did not stop there and increased the scoring rate even further.

Iyer (28) did not get the chance to bat much and lost his wicket to Reece Topley in the 16th over. He kept his cool and only let up five runs in the over to put the pressure back on India. They now needed 61 runs to win in the final four overs. Suryakumar, on the other hand, completed his maiden T20I hundred with a four in the next over.

England continued to build pressure taking the wickets of Dinesh Karthik (six) and Ravindra Jadeja (seven). The centurion kept India's hopes alive by blasting 16 runs off Moeen Ali in the 19th over before being dismissed. Chris Jordan eventually held his nerve to defend 21 runs in the last over. In addition, he grabbed two wickets in the over.
