Star India all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja lauded the former India skipper Virat Kohli for his stunning fielding heroics in the first ODI against West Indies at the Kensington Oval in Bridgetown. The moment came in the 18th over of the West Indies innings who were batting first as they lost the toss.

Jadeja was bowling against the middle order batter Romario Shephard; Jadeja trapped Shephard in a bowl that turned around off stump; the ball ended up taking an outside edge when the Caribbean batter was trying to play a drive on it. It went to the slip cordon where Kohli was standing on the second slip. He executed a brilliant one-handed catch with an unbelievable dive to his right.

He barely had any time to react – Ravindra Jadeja on Virat Kohli’s catch

After the conclusion of the match, Ravindra Jadeja was in a candid interaction with his spin mate Kuldeep Yadav. Jadeja hailed Kohli’s excellence and athleticism on the field.

"Acha lagta hai ki main logon ki bowling pe main catch pakata hun, to meri bowling pe bhi koi itna accha catch pakda hai (Every time I take good catches off other people's bowling, it was great to see someone take a great catch off my bowling for once). It was a great catch by Virat, it kept low and he had to be sharp. He barely had any time to react, so it was a good take. If the bowler has the fielder's support on these types of pitches, then their confidence is really boosted," said Jadeja in the video uploaded by the Indian Cricket Board on their official Twitter handle.

Notably, it was the dangerous pair of Jadeja and Kuldeep Yadav that played a vital role in bundling up West Indies on the score of 114 runs in 23 overs. Jadeja scalped 3 wickets at the cost of 37 runs in 6 overs. On the other hand, the left-arm wrist spinner Kuldeep Yadav bowled brilliantly and claimed 4 wickets after conceding only 6 runs in 3 overs with two maiden overs.
