West Indies vs India

Team India is set to lock horns with the West Indies in the upcoming two-match Test series. Both teams will play the first of the two-match Test series at Windsor Park in Dominica on Wednesday, the 12th of June. Meanwhile, the new Test Jersey of India has also been launched with new lead sponsors.

However, the look of the new Test jersey didn’t go down well with a lot of Indian cricket fans. They immediately to Twitter and blamed the Indian Cricket Board for ruining the team’s jersey. Fans also felt that there were a lot of better options that the Board could have gone for but they chose something with a very poor appearance.

Here’s how fans reacted:

Notably, Team India will be playing the Test series against West Indies with a few big changes as the senior Test specialist batter Cheteshwar Pujara is not a part of the squad this time. Meanwhile, the young uncapped players, including the likes of Yashasvi Jaiswal and Ruturaj Gaikwad, got their maiden India call-up.

Recently, the former legendary Indian skipper Sunil Gavaskar also spoke about the omission of Sarfaraz Khan from the Test squad. The little master felt that the young Mumbai batter should have been considered for the Test squad owing to his outstanding record with the bat in First-Class cricket. Apart from that, Gavaskar also wrote that West Indies are no more the team that they used to be in the last century.

"West Indies are no more the force they were in the last century as can be seen by the fact that they are currently playing in Zimbabwe to try and qualify for the ODI World Cup that they won twice in the 70s. So, picking some younger players for the Test series would have made more sense," wrote Gavaskar in his column for Mid-Day just after the squad was announced.

"What is Indian cricket going to learn by picking the same seniors for the two Test matches who have now failed to deliver in two World Test Championship finals? How does it even matter if they score heaps of runs and take a bunch of wickets in the Caribbean apart from it bulking up their individual career stats,” he added.
