Keen watchers of the Indian Premier League and cricket fans the world over would have seen coverage of an on-field war of words between Afghanistan pacer Naveen-ul-Haq and Indian batter Virat Kohli in the IPL fairly, recently. The incident was caught on camera during a match between Naveen’s Lucknow Super Giants and Kohli’s Royal Challengers Bangalore, wherein the pacer was seen to have said something to Kohli in the 17th over, which prompted a heated response from the batter. 

The duo clashed once again after the game had ended and the players were shaking hands. Both Kohli and Naveen were fined as a result along with Lucknow mentor Gautam Gambhir, who was also embroiled in a heated exchange with Kohli.

Days after the dramatic exchange, the Lucknow Super Giants shared a fun video on their Twitter handle wherein Naveen sat down for a fun informal chat with fellow pacer Avesh Khan in which they both asked each other questions. One of the questions Avesh asked Naveen was about the favourite sledge that he had ever given or received on the cricket field, to which the Afghan bowler replied that he wasn’t in the habit of sledging opposition players before launching into a funny incident from a first-class game in the past.

“I don’t sledge someone upfront, It’s not my habit," said Naveen.

The rivalry between Naveen and Kohli seems to still be simmering away behind the scenes, with both players posting cryptic messages on their Instagram stories in the aftermath. While Naveen posted a story that appeared to be a sly dig at the Royal Challengers Bangalore after their defeat to the Mumbai Indians in their next match, Kohli shared a video featuring comedian Kevin Hart talking about not holding grudges and moving on in life.

The duo’s next meeting on (or off) the pitch promises to be a spicy one!
