Former Indian skipper and batting superstar Virat Kohli is set to make his return to his home ground Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. Kohli will be playing a Test match at Arun Jaitley Stadium after a long wait of almost 4 years. He made his last international appearance in an ODI against Australia back in march 2019 at Delhi’s remarkable ground.
Now, the 34-year-old will be back in action during the upcoming second of the four-Test Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia.
Meanwhile, Kohli has come up with an Instagram story in which he shared his photo of traveling in a car with the caption; “A long drive towards the stadium in Delhi after a long time. Such a nostalgic feeling.”
Here’s a look at the Instagram story posted by Virat Kohli:
Notably, it would be the first time when the Delhi veteran will be playing in a stadium having a pavilion on his name. The modern-day batting great of 74 international centuries has made 11 appearances so far in all formats of the game in the international at his home ground. In these matches, he has accumulated 715 runs including two centuries and 3 half-centuries to his name.
Speaking of Kohli’s Test outings in Arun Jaitley Stadium, he has scored 467 runs in 3 Tests with a double century against Sri Lanka (243 runs) and two half-centuries.
Although Kohli couldn’t live up to his stature in the opening Test of the ongoing four-Test Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia as he fell prey to debutant Todd Murphy with only a score of 12 runs.
Kohli would be eyeing to return to his golden run of form with the bat in the upcoming Delhi Test against Australia as the conditions would be very favorable and familiar for him.
Currently, Rohit Sharma-led India is leading the series by a margin of 1-0 with a massive win by an inning and 132 runs in the Nagpur fixture.
