Ahead of the Men's ODI World Cup 2023 in October of this year, Team India wicketkeeper batter KL Rahul has reported to the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru to begin his extensive rehabilitation programme following a thigh surgery. Rahul hopes to return during the Asia Cup 2023 in Sri Lanka in September.

Rahul, the captain of the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), sustained an injury during an IPL 2023 game and was forced to withdraw from the competition as well as the World Test Championship (WTC) final after a thigh operation was suggested. He had a successful operation in the UK, and on Tuesday, he shared photos of NCA on social media with the caption "home."

In the absence of Rishabh Pant, who is also recovering from a terrible vehicle accident that occurred in December of last year, Rahul, who bats in the middle-order in ODI cricket and also dons the large gloves in the 50-over format, is a crucial component of the ODI set-up.

The 31-year-old has 14 international hundreds across formats and 2,642 runs in 47 Tests, 1,986 runs in 54 ODIs, and 2,265 runs in 72 T20Is. Rahul had previously conveyed his best wishes for the Indian squad before they take on Australia at The Oval in the World Test Championship final.

KL Rahul had a considerable contribution in WTC 2021-23 cycle for India

“Good luck lads. Let’s get it,” KL Rahul wrote earlier this month on Instagram. The batter is not a member of the Indian team and is recovering from an injury incurred during the just-finished Indian Premier League (IPL).

KL Rahul gave India a significant contribution with the bat during the WTC 2021–23 season. He scored 636 runs at an average of 30.28 in 11 games. In 21 innings, he recorded two hundreds, two fifties, and a top score of 129.

On May 1, the captain of the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) was hurt during the game against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). In the second over, he chased a ball in the outfield, held it to his thigh, and then hobbled off the pitch. KL Rahul was then replaced by Ishan Kishan in the World Test Championship.
