The former star Pakistan speedster Mohammad Amir didn’t have an expected outing in the second match of PSL 2023. Notably, it was also his first match with Karachi in the eighth edition of the Pakistan Super League. The 30-year-old failed to live up to his stature and conceded 42 runs in his quota of four overs against Peshawar Zalmi; played under the captaincy of Babar Azam.

Apart from the action of the match, the Punjab-based former veteran made it to the headlines of the media for his blunt remarks for Babar Azam. The former compared star Pakistan batter and skipper to a number 10 batter and a tailender.

“These kinds of matchups and player rivalries keep players on their toes. I personally like these sorts of challenges because it keeps me focused. My job is to take wickets and win matches for my team, so for me, facing Babar or a tailender batting at number 10 will be the same," said Amir to ARY News.

Although Amir’s poor outing in the match drew a lot of reactions from the fans. A section of cricket fans brutally trolled Mohammad Amir while recalling his big remarks even before the start of the match.

Here’s how fans trolled Mohammad Amir:

Talking about the match, Karachi skipper Imad Wasim decided to bowl first after winning the toss. Peshawar Zalmi posted a big total of 199 runs for the loss of five wickets in the allotted 20 overs courtesy of an outstanding 139-run partnership between skipper Babar Azam and star batter Tom Kohler-Cadmore. The latter played a big knock of 92 runs alongside Babar’s 68-run knock.

While chasing the target, skipper Imad Wasim and T20 batting great Shoaib Malik played brilliant knocks of 80 and 52 runs respectively. But unfortunately, they couldn’t cross the finishing line for Karachi couldn’t go far from 197 runs for the loss of five wickets in the allotted 20 overs. Eventually, Babar’s men won the match by 2 runs to start their campaign with a win in the Pakistan Super League.
