All India Football Federation’s player status committee has imposed a ban on Hyderabad FC from new signings and registering players. Something like this has happened for the second time with Hyderabad FC. Now, they can not sign any national or international star till the AIFF revokes their ban.
Hyderabad has faced this ban as they haven’t paid the dues of almost 1 crore INR to defender Adil Khan. He was signed by the club more than three years back in the year 2020 on the 1st of June.
Ban comes after Hyderabad FC's repeated failures
It was on the 21st of February when Adil issued a notice in the name of Hyderabad FC’s owners, De Grande Sports Pvt Ltd. He clarified in the notice that his salary from September 2022 to January 2023 wasn’t paid to him by the club. He also warned the club about terminating the agreement with an instant effect if the club fails to pay the amount and gave them a time of 15 days.
"Due to repeated failures of the respondent (Hyderabad FC) to pay the dues on time, the committee is of the view that this is an aggravated form of offence. Thus under Article 14.4 of the Regulations, the Respondent will be banned from registering any new players, either nationally or internationally, for the entire two registration periods which will take effect immediately,” said the player status committee’s chairman, Godfrey Pereira, in an order.
“If the Respondent clears all the pending dues, the ban may be suspended in accordance with Article 14.6 of the Regulations,” he added.
This ban is going to be a big setback for Hyderabad FC as they were the only side in the transfer window of January, which didn’t sign any new player, either national or international. The potential new signings for the club could be Makan Chothe (FC Goa), Petteri Pennanen (Tampereen Ilves), Joe Knowles (Brisbane Roar), Jonathan Moya (FC Anyang) and Vignesh Dakshinamurthy (Mumbai City).
