Here's how fans reacted after Chennai Super Kings defeated Delhi Capitals by 77 runs in the 67th match of IPL 2023.

The 67th match of the Indian Premier League 2023 was played between the four-time champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Delhi Capitals (DC) at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi on Saturday, May 20. CSK thrashed DC by 77 runs and has qualified for the playoffs qualification, however, it is still not decided whether they will finish in the top 2 or not.

Speaking of the game, CSK captain Dhoni chose to bat after winning the toss, and his choice turned out to be the perfect one. Ruturaj Gaikwad and Devon Conway's opening partnership of 141 runs for the first wicket laid the groundwork for a significant total. Gaikwad scored 79 runs in 50 balls, including 3 fours and 7 sixes in his innings. Conway also hit 87 runs in 52 balls, with 11 fours and 3 sixes, as CSK set Delhi Capitals a goal of 224 runs.

Additionally, Shivam Dube had a brief appearance, scoring 22 runs off just 9 balls, including 3 maximums. Aside from Chetan Sakariya, who allowed only 36 runs in his allotted four overs, all the bowlers were expensive. Chetan Sakariya, Anrich Nortje, and Khaleel Ahmed each claimed one wicket.

Brilliant bowling performance by CSK

Chasing the target, DC had a poor start as they lost the previous match half-centurion Prithvi Shaw cheaply and then Deepak Chahar got two in two balls as Philip Salt and Rilee Rossouw were dismissed early. DC skipper David Warner steadied the ship and struck a few neat blows against the CSK spinners. 

But he didn't get enough support as Axar Patel, Yash Dhull, and Aman Khan all got starts and then fell off. In the end, Warner also fell victim to Matheesha Pathirana's slower delivery and fell 14 runs short of his well-deserved century. Maheesh Theekshana got back amongst the wickets as well by picking two in the final over and didn’t concede a single run in it.
