Rohit Sharma continued his poor run of form in the sixteenth edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). On Saturday, May 6, Mumbai Indians (MI) travelled to Chennai to take on the Super Kings (CSK) in their backyard, the Chepauk. While Rohit had demoted himself from the opening spot, he entered the playing field when MI were one wicket down.

However, even in this new position, he could not do much as Deepak Chahar dismissed him for a 3-ball duck. This is Rohit Sharma's 16th duck in his IPL career, making him the player with the most ducks in the IPL. MI had lost the reverse fixture against CSK at home, in the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. If they lose this game, CSK would complete their league double over their arch-rivals in the match-up, popularly referred to as El Clasico of IPL.

Rohit Sharma is concerned about MI's bowling attack

Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma is pleased that his team successfully chased down totals over 200 in back-to-back games, but he noted that the bowling unit still needs work. Mumbai Indians' inexperienced pace attack and Jofra Archer's rustiness are hurting them, as they have given up 200-plus runs in their last four games.

"It is something that we need to look at, certain options we need to take in the middle overs, how to shut off overs," Rohit said at the post-match presentation ceremony after their victory over Punjab Kings on Wednesday. "It's been three or four games where we have conceded 200, so we need to find those options in the middle."

"When we started the T20 format, 140-150 was a winning score. But look at this one. Plus, one extra batter makes a huge difference as well. Not just to us but across the IPL. I just checked that the average score this IPL is 180," the MI skipper added. "Before the season's start, we talked about how we want to play our cricket. With the bat, we just wanted to go out there, play fearlessly, and not worry about the results. Often when you think about the results, you move away from your plans. But we... want to be fearless," he further.
