Ajaz Patel is an India-born New Zealand spinner. He is getting goosebumps on thinking about playing against India, his birth country, in the WTC Final at Southampton.

Ajaz Patel lived in Mumbai till 8 years of age. His parents then moved to New Zealand in search of better job opportunities. They have lived there ever since.

In New Zealand, Patel had started as a medium-pacer. But he soon shifted to left-arm spin and mastered it. He is considered one of the best left-arm spinner of New Zealand.

Patel recalled his journey and how he hopes to cherish it in the future. He went from immigrating to New Zealand from India to playing against his birth country in the home of cricket, England. It has been kind of like going full circle for him.

The 32-year-old spinner believes it would be rewarding to play against India, one of the best nations when it comes to cricket. He hopes that he can sit back and look back at this time of this career in the future and recall it being an amazing time of his career. He believes it is something any cricketer would cherish throughout their life. It would be an interesting story to tell.

Mitchell Santner and Ish Sodhi had occupied the top position in Kiwi spin for a long time. Ajaz Patel got his chance to make his international debut after almost 10 years of grinding in domestic cricket. However, since his election, he has performed impressively. To date, Patel has picked up 22 wickets from 8 Tests at 33.32 on average. It also includes two five-wicket hauls.

Ajaz Patel has always enjoyed his time in England

Patel had played County cricket in England before. He recalled it being a great learning experience. He took a lot back from that time. Patel had enjoyed his time in England and he enjoys being back here. He actually enjoys playing cricket in England.

The World Test Championship Final will start on 18^th June. New Zealand and England would play a 2 test series against each other before the championship. The Test series would start from 2^nd June.
