Former Indiana fast bowler Ajit Agarkar opined that Kuldeep Yadav was not given enough game time in T20I cricket. In the upcoming limited-overs series against Sri Lanka, he is expected to get a chance to re-establish himself in the national setup.

Kuldeep Yadav last represented India in a T20I game in January 2020. Since then, he has failed to make his mark in the short format of the game. Even in the IPL was not given enough chance to bowl for Kolkata Knight Riders.

In a recent interview, Ajit Agarkar stated that India's spin bowling is not up to the mark for the T20 World Cup. He believes it was unfair on Kuldeep Yadav to miss out on game time in international tournaments.

Kuldeep Yadav needs to get his confidence back to start bowling well. Both he and Chahal are aware that they have many competitors in the game. Any player can take their spot in the T20 World Cup squad. So they would most probably perform well.

The Indian spin attack has been a matter of concern especially after Kuldeep Yadav and Chahal's partnership was broken. But players like Rahul Chahar, Varun Chakravarty would give more options to Virat Kohli if they managed to play well.

Ajit Agarkar believes players can get selected for the T20 World Cup if they perform well in the Sri Lanka tour

The main Indian team is currently in England for the five-match test series against the host nation. So a new-look Indian side is in Sri Lanka for the limited-overs series. Ajit Agarkar believes players can get selected for the T20 World Cup based on their performance in the Sri Lanka tour. It is a good opportunity for the players to make themselves noticed. The performance of the players in the Sri Lanka tour won't go unnoticed by the selectors if they give an impressive performance.

Shikhar Dhawan has been selected to captain the new-look Indian team. Rahul Dravid would coach the team during the series. If he is successful then Dravid will probably be appointed the Head coach of the national team after Ravi Shastri.

The start of the series against Sri Lanka has currently been rescheduled due to a surge in COVID-19 cases in the Sri Lanka team camp. The first ODI would now be played on 18th July.
