Ajit Agarkar, the former Indian pacer, has criticized the move of Kolkata Knight Riders of replacing Dinesh Karthik with Eoin Morgan as skipper of the team for the rest of the ongoing IPL season.

A week ago, Karthik ventured to step down as KKR captain and handed over the team’s captaincy to the World Cup-winning England skipper. The wicketkeeper-batsman has declared that he made this decision to focus more on his batting and contribute more to the team.

Keeping in mind that KKR and Morgan were praising for the selfless choice taken by Karthik, Ajit Agarkar isn't enthralled with it. According to Agarkar, the choice was unnecessary and affects team's stability.

Ajit Agarkar is not impressed with the replacement during the mid-season of IPL 2020

Ajit Agarkar was chatting on Star Sports’ show Fan week. He said that he doesn’t think that replacing Dinesh Karthik after seven games, when the team is in the fourth position in the IPL 2020 table, is the correct move. It is a distraction for the performing players. Everyone has seen how KKR had performed against Mumbai Indians, even though it was an intense game.

Agarkar insisted that the move is incorrect. He further added that any team plan out a tournament with a certain captain and work accordingly. The replacement of captain in the middle of the ongoing IPL tournament is a peculiar move for him.

After a few unsuccessful games, KKR didn't take long to bounce back after being defeated by Mumbai Indians. They beat Sunrisers Hyderabad and kept on track for the playoffs. KKR is in the fourth position, with 10 points from nine matches. Today, they will clash with Royal Challengers Bangalore.
