It has been extensively debated for quite some time now about the manner in which Indian star batter Virat Kohli performs in Test cricket. Since the year 2019, the former skipper has not been able to maintain his average, and among his last 25 appearances, the right-handed batter has only struck a single century. Although the likes of Kane Williamson, Steve Smith, and Joe Root are all members of the "Fab 4" of Test batting, several fans and pundits are wondering whether the 34-year-old Kohli still deserves that title or not.
Notably, Day 2 of the ongoing first Test match at Windsor Park in Dominica witnessed India climb up against the West Indies with a considerable margin owing to hundreds from openers Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rohit Sharma. Following Tea on Day 2, visitors reached 245-2 in 81 overs in reply to the West Indies first-innings aggregate of 150. The visiting team now has a 162-run lead after Jaiswal and Rohit's record-breaking opening stand.
Subsequently, after that, Jaiswal (143*) and Virat Kohli (36*) powered the Indian team to 312/2 on Day 2, shortly after the visitors lost skipper Rohit (103) and Shubman Gill (6) in the earlier session. In the same vein, Pakistani journalist Farid Khan lauded Indian star batter Virat Kohli alongside Babar Azam. After the second day's match against the West Indies, Khan tweeted that Babar Azam and Virat are all-format players, while he further called other players either 'ODI greats' or 'Test performers.'
Babar Azam is Fab One: Khan
Later, he concluded by calling the Men in Green's skipper 'Fan One'. “In the Fab Five, only Virat Kohli and Babar Azam are all-format players. Rest of the players are either ODI greats or world class Test performers. It's silly that experts consider Test form only while talking about Fab Five. And Babar Azam is Fab One #WIvIND #INDvWI,” Khan tweeted.
Khan's statement sparked an argument on Twitter, with certain individuals backing him and others speaking up for Indian star Kohli. Babar Azam, who is considered the top hitter for Pakistan, appears to be in outstanding form recently and averages 48.63 in Test cricket.
