It seems as if former India leg-spinner Amit Mishra loves having a go at former Pakistan skipper Shahid Afridi. A few months ago, the former gave a befitting reply to Afridi for supporting a convicted terrorist. Once again, the leggie seems to be in the mood of letting up. Recently, the 2009 20-20 World Cup winner suggested to Virat Kohli that he must retire from the game.

The former explosive batter advised that Kohli must leave the game on a high. He further suggested that Kohli shouldn't reach that stage where the latter has to be dropped from the team. Recently, the former India skipper broke the jinx of going century-less in the Asia Cup 2022. In the game against Afghanistan, the right-hander scored his maiden T20I century.

“The way Virat has played, the start that he had to his career, there was a struggle initially before he made a name for himself. He is a champion and I believe there comes a stage when you are headed towards retirement. But in that scenario, the aim should be to go out on a high,” said Afridi during a show on Samaa TV.

“It shouldn’t reach a stage where you are dropped from the team and instead when you are at your peak. It seldom happens though. Very few players, especially cricketers from Asia Cup make that decision, but I feel when Virat does it, he will do it style and probably in the same manner in which he started his career,” he added later.

Some people retire only once: Amit Mishra

In reply to Afridi's statement, Mishra reminded his counterpart that some players retire only once. For the unversed, Shahid retired from the game quite a few times during his 20-year-old career.

“Dear Afridi, some people retire only once so please spare Virat Kohli from all this,” wrote Mishra in his tweet while mocking Afridi’s habitual retirements and comebacks.
