Former India skipper Virat Kohli, his wife, and Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma have decided to forgive the man who sent them rape threats. Apparently, a person from Hyderabad had sent them rape threats directed toward their daughter. This happened during the 20-20 World Cup 2021 in the UAE after the team had lost to New Zealand. After the incident, a probe was conducted, and the perpetrator was booked under various sections of the IPC.

Ramnagesh Akubathini,  a graduate from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Hyderabad was booked for his objectional tweets against Vamika Kohli, the toddler. An FIR was registered against him under sections 354 (outraging modesty/sexual harassment), 506 (criminal intimidation), 500 (defamation), and 201 (disappearance of evidence) of the Indian Penal Code along with offenses under the Information Technology Act.  A local court granted him bail nine days later.

Ramnagesh moved the HC seeking to quash the FIR in February 2022. He was a meritorious student and rank-holder in the JEE (Advanced) Exam and wished to go abroad for a job but the case was causing hindrance to his career, he pleaded. On April 10th, the complainant, Kohli, and Sharma filed an affidavit granting consent for the case to be quashed. Accordingly, the HC quashed the FIR.
