England cricketer Will Jacks has been ruled out of the upcoming edition of the Indian T20 League due to an injury sustained while playing for the national side in Bangladesh, reports suggest. Jacks had been signed by Bangalore for INR 3.2 crore at December's auction and was expected to slot into the side's exciting middle order. A versatile cricketer, Jacks can also be relied upon to provide some tidy off-spin in the middle overs.

However, he sustained an injury while fielding in the second ODI between England and Bangladesh in Mirpur. Subsequent scans and conversations with a specialist led to him pulling out of the tournament. This injury comes at an unfortunate time for Jacks, whose career was just starting to get going. He made this debut in all three formats this winter, winning his Test and T20I caps in Pakistan before making his ODI debut against Bangladesh.

Jacks' withdrawal also affects his chances to make it into England's squad for the upcoming 50-over World Cup, as this tournament would have provided valuable experience of playing in Indian conditions. According to reports, Bangalore have made contact with New Zealand all-rounder Michael Bracewell as a potential replacement for Jacks. Bracewell had a great tour of India earlier in the year, standing out with both bat and ball.

Bangalore play their first game of the season against Mumbai at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium on April 2. It will be their first fixture at their home ground since May 2019. Jacks' Surrey and England teammate Reece Topley, also a part of the Bangalore squad, is expected to be fit and available for the tournament after sitting out the white-ball tour of Bangladesh nursing a niggle.
