Former Indian skipper and the modern-day batting great, Virat Kohli was one of the vital cogs in the wheel during Team India’s title triumph in the just concluded Asia Cup 2023. He smashed an amazing century in the super-4 match against Pakistan. He is also expected to carry his brilliant form for India in the upcoming ODI World Cup 2023.
Meanwhile, Kohli also spoke about India’s hopes of glory in the upcoming 13th edition of the marquee international tournament, which is to be played in their own backyard after 12 years. Last time, when India hosted the ODI World Cup 2011, it was the MS Dhoni-led Indian side that lifted the title and ended a 28-year-old trophy drought in an ODI World Cup.
"The passion and unwavering support of our fans is what fuels our determination." - Virat Kohli
Kohli said that the entire Indian team is completely geared up to give their absolute best in the upcoming World Cup to bring smiles back to the faces of Indian faces after a long wait of more than a decade. Since the inception of the ODI World Cup 48 years back in the year 1975, India have won two titles, the first in 1983 when they outplayed the mighty West Indies and the second time, they won it in the home ODI World Cup of 2011.
“The passion and unwavering support of our fans is what fuels our determination to win the World Cup. The memories of past World Cup victories, especially the iconic 2011 win, are etched in our hearts, and we want to create new memories for our fans,” said Kohli to Star Sports.
“I am thrilled to be a part of this incredible campaign, which perfectly captures the emotions of our fans, and we're ready to give it our all to make their dreams come true," he added later.
Furthermore, the star Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja also agreed with what Kohli thinks, he also called it motivating when fans are there to cheer up for the men in blue.
"As a cricketer, there's nothing more motivating than knowing that millions of fans are standing behind you, cheering for your success," Jadeja said.
