The IPL 2020 journey of Royal Challengers Bangalore has reached an end on Friday with a six-wicket defeat against Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Eliminator. The three-time finalists left the tournament with five consecutive defeats.
Virat Kohli's side failed to start the bat again and managed to pile up just 131 at the loss of 7 wickets. Apart from AB de Villiers (56) and Aaron Finch (32), no other batsmen could play any generous thump. Among the nine players who batted, Mohammed Siraj (10) was the only one after De Villiers and Finch to score the double-digit mark with his bat.
In answer, SRH pursued down the target with two balls to remain still, with Kane Williamson and Jason Holder featuring with the bat. SRH were reeling at 67 for 4 in the twelfth over before Williamson and Holder came to the rescue of their team. The two shared an unbeaten partnership of 65 runs to take their side over the line. Williamson stayed unbeaten on 50 while Holder scored 24.
The plus points of RCB in the 2020 season
Chatting after the end of the game, Virat Kohli called attention to a couple of positives for the side from the ongoing season of IPL. He expressed that the form of Devdutt Padikkal and Mohammed Siraj is a part of the positives. Furthermore, he lauded senior stars of his team like Yuzvendra Chahal and De Villiers for their exhibitions.
Padikkal, who was playing his debut IPL edition, completed the competition with an impressive individual score of 473 runs from 15 games. He has hit five half-centuries and scored his runs at an average of more than 31. Siraj, then again, completed the IPL 2020 season with 11 wickets. He bowled truly well in the second half of the competition. As the RCB has ended its IPL 2020 journey, a hope to win their maiden IPL season next time is still strong in the team and the RCB fans.
