Not many people would have expected England to be in the game going into Day 4 of the first Ashes Test, especially after conceding a 278 run lead in the first inning. However, the tides have turned, though Australia are still ahead, England have got themselves into a position where there will be a few concerned faces in the Australian camp.
Going into Day 4, England are trailing Australia by 58 runs, with eight wickets in hand. Dawid Malan and Joe Root were the cornerstone of England's fightback in the second inning and are unbeaten on 80 and 86 respectively. Earlier, England were bowled out for 147 in the first inning. In response, Australia posted a mammoth 425.
Meanwhile, India off-spinner Ravi Ashwin is expecting a cracking finish to the game. Taking to Twitter, Ashwin said if England can dominate Australia in the first session of Day 4, fans will be treated to a riveting contest on Day 5.
"It’s all happening at the Gabba and could well be the most happening 5th day if England can trump the first session tomorrow. #ashes."

Notably, Australia have a great record at Gabba. However, they were recently beaten by a second-string India team at the same venue. Coming from behind, Rishabh Pant scripted a memorable win for India. Can England pull off something similar? Well if they do, it will be worth watching.
