Indian spinner R Ashwin and wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant are nominated for the ICC player of the month awards. Apart from Ashwin and Pant, two other Indians players Siraj and T Natarajan are also nominated. Pant and Ashwin were crucial in India's historic win against Australia in the 2020 Bordar-Gavaskar series. Despite facing so many injuries, India sealed the series 2-1.

Rishabh Pant proved his worth by smashing 97 in Sydney. He also helped India script history as his unbeaten 89 pusehd the visitors break Australia's 32-year record in Brisbane. In the final test, Mohammed Siraj emerged as the bowling attack leader. He also became the only Indian bowler to take a five-wicket haul in the entire series. T Natarajan also impressed everyone on his debut. Siraj became the first Indian bowler to make his international debut across all three formats during the same tour.

Other cricketers have also been selected for the awards: England skipper Joe Root, Australia’s star batsman Steve Smith, Rahmanullah Gurbaz of Afghanistan, Nida Dar of Pakistan, Marizanne Kapp and Nadine de Klerk of South Africa.

ICC awards will recognise the best performances of both male and female cricketers

ICC awards will recognise the best performances of male and female cricketers across all formats throughout the year. The cricket fans will vote online to define the winner.

An independent ICC Voting Academy comprising former players, broadcasters, and journalists worldwide will team up with fans to vote for the winners every month. All the nominees for each of the categories will be defined by the Committee. This will be based in their on-field performances and overall achievements.

The Voting Academy is going to submit the votes by email and reserve a 90 per cent share of the vote.
