Asia Cup 2023, filled with hosting controversies, rain delays a lot more, finally concluded on Sunday, September with the final clash between India and Sri Lanka. The final happened to be one of the historic matches in the history of ODI as the men in blue completely outmuscled the hosts and defeated them by a massive margin of 10 wickets.
Rohit Sharma’s India bundled out the Islanders for just 50 runs in 15.2 overs, with Siraj bowling the best spell of his career, picking 6 wickets at the cost of just 21 runs in 7 overs, including a maiden as well. He also won the ‘Player of the Match Award for his match-defining performance.

India – Champions
Rohit Sharma-led Team India made it to the final of an ODI Asia Cup for the second consecutive after a wait of five years since Asia Cup 2023. Subsequently, they also clinched the second consecutive title in ODI Asia Cup defending their title of Asia Cup 2023. They were awarded an amount of 200,000 US Dollars which is approx. 1.65 crores in Indian National Rupees. They made it to the final with two straight wins against Pakistan and Sri Lanka in the super-4 round.
Sri Lanka – Runner-up
The hosts Sri Lanka entered the Asia Cup 2023 as the defending champion as they clinched the title in the T20I Asia Cup 2022. But they had a horrific outing in the final, losing the match by a mammoth margin of 10 wickets. Dasun Shanaka’s men made it to the summit clash after registering wins against Bangladesh and Pakistan in the super-4 stage of the tournament. Sri Lanka received the Prize money of 100,000 US dollars which is approx. 82 Lakhs in Indian National Rupees.
Kuldeep Yadav (India) – Player of the Tournament
Team India’s star Chinaman spinner Kuldeep Yadav scalped a total of 9 wickets in this recently concluded edition of the Asia Cup. He bagged a five-wicket haul against the arch-rivals, Pakistan in India’s first super-4 clash followed by a four-wicket haul just on the next day against Sri Lanka. He managed to put his hand on the ‘Player of the Tournament award for his brilliant bowling throughout the tournament.
Here are some other awards
Indian coach Rahul Dravid and his Sri Lankan counterpart Chris Silverwood received watches, alongside all players and support staff. Apart from that, Asian cricket’s governing and Sri Lanka Cricket Board gave an award of 50,000 US Dollars to the ground staff who worked in Sri Lanka for the smooth conduction of the tournament.
