The ITL mega auction was very interesting, with team dynamics completely changing. The auction also included several members of the Indian squad for the series against the West Indies. Ishan Kishan, Deepak Chahar, Shreyas Iyer and Shardul Thakur, among others, saw some huge bids. Rohit Sharma, however, has asked them to keep the auction behind and remain focused on the Indian team.
Rohit Sharma spoke to the press conference before the start of the T20 series against West Indies. The Indian captain said it is important not to get caught up in the emotions caused by the auction dynamics.
"It was understood that guys will go through ups and downs, some emotional feeling within themselves on which team they will play for in the IPL. But that was done the day before yesterday, we had a great meeting with everyone and we asked them to focus on the color blue for the next two weeks," he said.
Adding to it he said, "Whatever has happened, has happened, for the next two weeks, they have to focus on playing for India, nothing else. That is something we spoke of and all these guys are professionals, you can expect once they wear India colors, it is all about India, nothing else matters."
As Rohit Sharma pointed out, where players fit for India matters more than where they fit in their ITL teams. He also admitted that the auction has no consideration over the team. The tournament will be taken care of later, he added.
The Indian team will take on the West Indies in the three-match T20 series at the Eden Gardens, Kolkata. The first match begins tomorrow at 7 p.m. The whitewashed West Indies in the ODI series in Ahmedabad.
