A recent interview of Babar Azam with the digital insider of cricket’s governing body, Zainab Abbas, is currently the talk of the town; the 28-year-old spoke his heart out in the interview on the questions from Zainab. Meanwhile, the presenter also asked Babar about his mindset when he posted a famous tweet for Virat Kohli in July last year.
Babar wrote ‘This too shall pass. Stay strong” for Virat Kohli just a day after a 16-run knock for the latter against England in an ODI. Notably, it was also the time when the Indian batting superstar was going through a poor run of form with the bat and hadn’t scored any century since he played a knock of 136 runs against Bangladesh in November 2019.
Coming back to Babar’s revelation in his message for the former Indian skipper Virat Kohli, the former told that being a sports person; athletes have some common compassionating emotions.
Here's what Babar Azam said about Virat Kohli
“As a sportsperson, anyone can go through such a time,” replied Babar Azam to the question of Zainab Abbas on his mindset while tweeting that empathetic message for Kohli.
“At that time, I thought maybe if I tweet it might give someone help and confidence. See, as a player, you try to back every sportsman in a difficult time. It is in difficult times when you get to know what you are thinking about others. At that time, I thought I should have done that and maybe something positive will come out of it. Something which can be a plus point,” he added later,
Speaking of Kohli, he broke his century drought in Afghanistan in the Asia Cup 2022 with an unbeaten knock of 122 runs. Following that century, he scored three centuries and also smashed an 82-run ‘knock for the ages’ in the super-12 match against Pakistan at the Melbourne Cricket Ground in Melbourne. This classic knock helped India to register a remarkable victory over the arch-rivals Pakistan.
