Supporters of Atletico Madrid have started an online campaign to stop Cristiano Ronaldo from joining the team from Manchester United. Ronaldo is looking for a way out of United after telling the team he wants to leave this summer if a good deal comes up. The Portuguese superstar, who returned to United from Juventus last year, is eager to play Champions League games this year and may quit the club.

Ronaldo was left out for United's pre-season tour of Thailand and Australia, and he is yet to play for the club since the arrival of Erik ten Hag. Chelsea, Napoli, and Paris Saint-Germain, as well as Atletico Madrid, have all have expressed interest in signing the cricketers.

Reports connecting Ronaldo to Atletico Madrid have enraged the Spanish club's supporters, who are desperate to prevent their team from signing the striker who played for their rivals Real Madrid between 2009 and 2018. Angry supporters have taken to Twitter with the hashtag #ContraCR7 (AgainstCR7) to express their displeasure with the club's decision to sign Ronaldo.

"If this one comes to my Atleti, I will cancel my two subscriptions... We are not an asylum to collect scum," one supporter tweeted. Another added: "This is not just about Atletico fans, every club's fans should reject Ronaldo."

A third wrote: "A clown who represents everything that is not Atleti. It would destroy the locker room, the fans and everything it touches. It is not even sustained sportingly, in clear decline."

Ronaldo's current contract at United expires in a year, and the new manager Ten Hag maintains the Portuguese star is still part of his plans for the season. "We want to play in a certain way. A top player can contribute and Ronaldo is an absolute top player in our squad," said Ten Hag.

The Dutchman stated that he was unclear whether Ronaldo will return to training this week in preparation for their next pre-season friendly. "I cannot tell you. Not yet," he added.
