Attackers-Defenders Combine To Propel Telugu Yoddhas To The Finals of Inaugural Ultimate Kho-Kho League

Pune; 3rd September 2022: A smashing 23-point victory over Gujarat Giants in Qualifier 2 today, with an outstanding showcase of skill, strategy and swiftness is what headlined Telugu Yoddhas 67-44 win over Gujarat Giants. Telugu Yoddhas – the GMR group owned franchise will face Odisha Juggernauts in the Finals of the Inaugural Season of the Ultimate Kho-Kho League tomorrow, 4th September 2022, at the Shree Shiv Chattrapati Sports Complex, Pune. Arun Gunki of Telugu Yoddhas won the Best Attacker of the Match Award while captain Pratik Waikar won the Ultimate Kho of the match award. Telugu Yoddhas who have been is scintillating form in their last four games will face Odisha Juggernauts for the second time in the last 5 days. 

The finals of the inaugural Ultimate Kho Kho league between Odisha Juggernauts and Telugu Yoddhas will be broadcast LIVE & exclusive on Sony Sports Network and LIVE streamed on SonyLIV platform 8 PM onwards.

Telugu Yoddhas won the toss and chose to attack. The Team representing the Telugu speaking region of India started strong wiping off the first batch of Gujarat Giants in less than 2 minutes, thereby accumulating a 6-0 lead in the game. There after Telugu Yoddhas went full throttle to wipe out batches after batches of Gujarat Giants to inflict a ‘full on chase’ while also earning 3 crucial bonus points as well. Telugu Yoddhas with the help of 4 Sky Dives & 4 Pole Dives, that included Avdhut Patil’s 14 points wrapped up Turn 1 with a gigantic 37-0 lead over Gujarat Giants. 

Gujarat Giants reeling under the urgency to reduce the 37-points deficit started Turn 2 on a promising note but Telugu Yoddhas increased their lead by another 2 points through a Dream Run in the early minutes of Turn 2. Gujarat Giants thereafter tried making a comeback but fell short by 18 points. Turn 2 came to an end with the scoreboard read 39-21 to Telugu Yoddhas favour. 

Telugu Yoddhas started Turn 3 in their usual manner adding to their points through 3 pointers wiping out the first batch of Gujarat Giants defenders very fast. It was Gujarat Giants second batch that brought in a bit of trouble for Telugu Yoddhas earning 8 crucial Dream Run points. But thereafter Gujarat Giants couldn’t show any more spark in the turn as turn 3 came to an end with the score line reading 61-29 still to the favour of Telugu Yoddhas.

Telugu Yoddhas sealed the game to their name in the final turn while defending with 6 very critical Dream Run points that left Gujarat Giants gasping for breath, as their hopes of finding a place in the finals of the inaugural season of the Ultimate Kho Kho crashed, with Telugu Yoddhas finishing the game with a massive 23-point win as the score line read 67-44.
