The 2023 Ashes are only hours away, and the attention of cricket fans has been drawn to the fierce rivalry between two international cricket giants, England and Australia. England's rising star Harry Brook is set to take part in his maiden Ashes series and has revealed his approach to the much-anticipated red-ball cricket event ahead of the 1st Test of the five-match series starting on June 16.

With Ben Stokes and Brendon McCullum taking over the leadership of England cricket, the style of their game has seen a radical transformation, which has been nicknamed 'bazball,' and Brook is one of the English batsmen who has adopted the style perfectly with his aggressive approach. The youngster has made an excellent start to his Test career, averaging over 80 with a strike rate close to 100 after seven matches.

If he bowls me a bad ball I'll try and hit it for boundary: Brook

The 24-year-old is gearing up for his biggest Test series yet, batting in the middle order where he will be up against Australia's veteran spinner Nathan Lyon, a great opportunity for him to prove his mettle. Lyon has a decent record in England over the years and is expected to pose a threat to England's batters. However, Brook has warned the off-spinner about the 'bazball' play, adding that while he will respect him, if he gets a bad delivery, he will not hesitate to smash it over the rope.

"If I get a good ball I'm going to try and survive against that good ball, and if he bowls me a bad ball I'll try and hit it for four or six. So it's not necessarily I'm going to come after him and try and hit every ball for six. I'm going to respect the bowler and whatever he bowls and if it is a bad ball I'll try and hit it for six," Brook said.

“I’d like to think I’m a player who can find gaps and hit different gaps, I try and play all around the wicket. I’ll see whatever field he has; I’m sure they’ll probably start with everybody up and we’ll go from there," he added.
