Australia announced their Test squad for the upcoming four-match Border-Gavaskar Series against India. The hosts have announced their 17-player team, which includes highly-rated young cricketers Cameron Green and Will Pucovski.

The other uncapped cricketers in the team are Sean Abbott, Mitchell Swepson, and Michael Neser. Green and Abbott have acquired their maiden Test call after a staggering performance at the ongoing Sheffield Shield.

Australia’s National selector Trevor Hohns said that they found various players were performing incredibly well in the initial rounds of the Sheffield Shield. He added that two of the standout cricketers were Cameron Green and Will Pucovski. Their undeniable form demanded selection, and the selectors are exceptionally satisfied to have the youngsters in the team.

Moreover, Burns and Pucovski have been named for the two practice matches of the Australia A Team against India, which could decide the opening partner of David Warner.

Trevor Hohns states both the newcomers have an excellent record

Hohns stated that the record-breaking beginning of Will Pucovski has been remarkable. His capacity to show such tolerance is something that places him in an advantageous position for Test cricket. Pucovski is in rare feat with two double centuries to begin the summer.

On the other hand, Green has been sensational with the bat in the ongoing Australian summer. He scored his career-best 197 runs against New South Wales. A month ago, he was named in the white-ball team against India.

“Cameron (Green) has already won selection in the white ball squad and continues that in joining the Test squad. He is a wonderful young talent who has great potential to become an all-rounder of substance over time. His batting alone has demanded his place in the squad,” Hohns said.

Australia has named a 19-player A crew as well that highlights as many as nine Test players from the main team, including skipper Tim Paine. The four-match Test series begins on December 17 with the day-night Test in Adelaide.
