Australian captain Aaron Finch has stated that the participation of Australian players in the IPL 2021 would be decided on a case-by-case basis. The tournament is going to resume in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) later this year. IPL-14 was suspended in the first week of May after an increase in coronavirus cases among players and support staff. The second half of the Indian Premier League will take place in September and October. It is set to conclude days before the start of the T20 World Cup. The mega event is also likely to be shifted to the UAE. The Board of Control for Cricket in India has time till June 28 to decide if the T20 World Cup can be held in the country or not.

Australia scheduled to play five T20Is and 3 ODIs against the West Indies

Nick Hockley, who is Cricket Australia's newly-appointed chief executive, had said that the board is yet to start discussions over players' IPL availability. Meanwhile, Australia will tour the West Indies in July. The Aaron Finch-led team is scheduled to play five T20Is against the West Indies team led by Kieron Pollard. The forthcoming series is a build-up to the ICC T20 World Cup going to take place later this year. The two sides will also face each other in a three-ODI series on the tour.

Cricket Australia has announced a 23-man squad for the forthcoming limited-overs tour of the West Indies. Aaron Finch-led Australia will face West Indies in 5 T20Is and 3 ODIs from July 9 to July 24. With the ICC T20 World Cup scheduled to occur in India later this year, Cricket Australia has named a full-strength squad for the white-ball series against West Indies. In March, Australian players who were missing from the T20I tour of NZ have also been included in the Squad. Thus, star players like Steve Smith, David Warner, Pat Cummins, and Mitchell Starc have made a comeback in the team.
