Lucknow claimed a narrow 12 run win over Hyderabad to get their campaign up and running. Avesh Khan was clinical for Lucknow as he claimed a four-wicket haul in the game. He took two wickets at the top of the innings and two wickets at the death. The star pacer was adjudged man of the match for his scintillating performance. Khan later dedicated the special award to his mother who is admitted in hospital.
"I would like to dedicate this performance to my mother who is hospitalized. I received a lot of support from her. After the match, I picked up my phone and connected with her on a video call, and gave her the details of the match. By God’s grace, she is fine now," he said speaking to Hooda in a video posted by the tournament's official Twitter handle.
