DC’s match against SRH was Axar Patel’s 1st match in IPL 2021 after he tested negative for COVID-19. Patel’s brilliant bowling in the Super over helped DC claim a historic victory against SRH in IPL 2021. With this victory, DC climbed to the 2nd spot in the IPL 2021 points table. In the post-match presentation, the DC spinner revealed how he convinced DC skipper Rishabh Pant to let him bowl the Super over against SRH. Actually, it was decided that Avesh Khan would bowl the Super over in case the match ends in a tie. In his defense, Patel pointed that the pitch is more ideally suited for a spinner than a pace bowler.

After a long discussion, Axar Patel was finally given the responsibility to bowl the Super over. SRH needed 9 runs in the Super over to win the match. David Warner and Kane Williamson took to the field against DC in the super over. Rishabh Pant’s brave decision worked in his favor. Axar Patel bowled 2 dot balls and conceded just 3 singles and a single boundary. SRH fell short by 2 runs in the Super over as DC registered their 4th win in the IPL this season.

DC hand SRH their 4th loss in IPL 2021

DC and SRH locked horns in the 20th match of IPL 2021. DC skipper Rishabh Pant won the toss and put SRH to field first. The duo of Shikhar Dhawan and Prithvi Shaw got DC off to a flier. Dhawan notched 28 off 26 balls, while Shaw amassed 53 runs in just 39 balls. Prior to Dhawan and Shaw’s dismissal, Rishabh Pant and Steve Smith kept firing for DC. Pant contributed 37 runs while Smith contributed 34 runs. At the end of 20 overs, Delhi’s score was 159/4. In reply, Jonny Bairstow started in terrific fashion for SRH. Bairstow smacked 38 runs in just 18 balls. Prior to Bairstow’s dismissal, SRH’s batting lineup started looking shaky. However, Kane Williamson’s knock of 61 pushed the match to a tie. Eventually, SRH lost in the super over, losing their 4th match in the IPL this season.

With SRH now at 7th in the table, their chances of qualifying for the playoffs are highly unlikely. The Orange Army needs to win all its upcoming matches if they want to qualify for the IPL 2021 playoffs.
