Delhi Capitals all-rounder Axar Patel finally joined the DC squad after three weeks in a medical care facility. He had tested positive for the virus before the start of IPL. The southpaw was the second cricketer after KKR's Nitish Rana to test positive for the dreadful virus. The entire squad of DC is currently in Chennai and is staying in ITC Grand Chola, where Axar Patel joined his team. The franchise released a video in which the all-rounder was seen meeting his teammates.
Ahead of the Indian Premier League, Axar Patel was included in the Indian cricket team for the four-match Test series against England. After missing the first Test due to injury, Axar made his Test debut in the second match. The 27-year-old ended the series on a positive note. He picked up 27 wickets in three Tests. England's batsmen were completely bewildered against Axar Patel as he ended up bagging four five-wicket hauls in the series. The English batsmen were surprised by his accuracy and were unable to read his arm ball. With 27 scalps in three Test matches, Axar Patel broke the record for most wickets by a debutant in a Test series (maximum three Tests). He surpassed Sri Lanka's Ajantha Mendis, who picked up 26 wickets in his debut.
