Indian skipper Rohit Sharma has seen some failure leading the team in recent times. Even though India was widely regarded as the favourite to win the Asia Cup 2022 earlier this month, he was unable to guide the team to the championship game. Now, the men in blue saw another defeat in the first T20I match against Australia.
India failed to hold off a massive 208-run score at the Punjab Cricket Association in Mohali. The Indian captain was reasonably upset with how the bowling effort turned out. Throughout the innings, the Indian bowlers were expensive, and Australia was quick to take advantage of the loose deliveries.
Umesh Yadav, who was rejoining the Indian team, also had a rough start to his appearance. In the second over of the innings, Cameron Green hit him for four fours off the first four deliveries he bowled. Rohit was spotted cursing out of frustration. "B**** C***," he said in frustration. A video of the same has gone viral all over the internet.

Regarding the game, India lost two wickets before KL Rahul and Suryakumar Yadav stabilised the innings. The two batters were able to play freely as they scored 55 runs in 35 balls and 46 runs in 25 balls, respectively. However, Hardik Pandya stole the show with the bat as he scored magnificent 71 runs in only 30 balls. In his innings, he hit seven fours and five sixes while striking at 236.
India lacked confidence with the ball from the start. They enabled runs to be scored during the powerplay, which allowed the Australian team to benefit in the chase. They flawlessly finished the game while maintaining their scoring rate. The two main players in the chase for the current World T20 Champions were Cameron Green (65), and Matthew Wade (45).
Axar Patel took three wickets for India, while Umesh Yadav and Uzvendra Chahal each took two and one. The second match in the series will take place in Nagpur on September 23.
