West Indies managed to get off to a more positive start on Day 3 with debutant Kirk McKenzie leading the way for the Caribbean Men. He added 32 runs off 57 balls before falling against another debutant Mukesh Kumar before lunch of Day 3. Rain played a spoilsport in the game forcing an early lunch.

West Indies were 117/2, trailing India by 321 runs, when Captain Kraigg Brathwaite fell to Ravichandran Ashwin, quickly after the resumption, having scored 75 runs in 235 balls. They were 229 for 5 at Stump's, trailing India by 209 runs in the second Test in Trinidad on Saturday.

West Indies batters survive on a flat track

The West Indies skipper went on to score a fighting 75 off 235 balls with five fours and one six. Jermaine Blackwood departed after Ajinkya Rahane picked up a sharp catch off Jadeja's ball right after tea. Blackwood scored 20 runs off 92 balls. Joshua Da Silva was bowled on 10 runs trying to drive Mohammed Siraj, right before another rain delay.

India finally took the new ball in the 103rd over, but Athanaze and Jason Holder remained untroubled to stumps. Athanaze was on 37 from 111 balls and Holder on 11. West Indies doggedly reached stumps on 229-5 in reply to India's 438. West Indies need only 10 more runs to make India bat again.

McKenzie has been the player on Day 3 for the West Indies appealing for more strokes on the third morning before the rain came in. On a rain-soaked third day, India's attack fought away on a sluggish Port-of-Spain ground, collecting just five wickets. With the light fading, India got Jadeja to bowl one over but the umpires decided to call it Stumps soon after.

It will be an early start on Day 4 for making up for the loss of overs and time. The hosts still trail by 209 runs and the second new ball is just 5.1-overs-old. India will look to make early wickets at the start of Day 4. The sign shows that this rain-interrupted  Test match will end in a draw. It will be interesting to watch if India can do some magic to pull off this Test match.
