Former England skipper Kevin Pietersen has lashed out at the England Cricket Team for their approach in the ongoing Ashes 2023 against Australia. Notably, the hosts are already trailing in the five-match series after a defeat in the first Test at the Edgbaston in Birmingham. The World Test Champions Australia handed England a close defeat by a thrilling margin of two wickets.
Currently, both teams are locking horns in the second Ashes 2023 Test at the Lord’s in London. Australia got into a commanding position on the second day of the match thanks to Steve Smith's century after being asked to bat first by the hosts.
Coming back to Pietersen’s disappointment with England’s approach during the second Test, he harshly advised the English side to take some brave calls against the Australians.
“Come on, @englandcricket! Stand tall today and take it to the Australians. Stop being so nice and get some mongrel in you! Take those 5 wickets quickly and bat well! This is The Ashes and not an exhibition game!” wrote Kevin Pietersen in a tweet on his official Twitter handle.
These harsh remarks from the veteran of 104 Tests happened to draw a lot of reactions from cricket fans. Fans took to Twitter and mentioned a couple of drawbacks of the new ‘Bazball’ approach when it comes to executing the performances to get favourable results.
Here’s how fans reacted:

Exactly, start walking the walk. Bazball is great but you’ve still got to get the opposition out. Body language was awful

🏏 Just been looking at the stats, we’ve only beaten Australia 9 times at Lords since The Ashes began in 1882, having hosted the series 36 times.

We’ve won at Lords in 1884, 1886, 1888, 1890, 1893, 1934, 2005, 2009, 2013
66% of those wins have happened before and up to 1934…
Side effects of IPL …

I hope they listen to you. My fav teams coach is so defensive I don't even have expectations of going back to that era of 2021

You can announce the playing XI for the 3rd test in the meantime 🤣🤣
Maybe Australia is playing well? You lot had everything in your favour from toss to conditions to pitch and still Australia finished the day on top. England can never give opposition credit can they?
