Former England skipper Kevin Pietersen has lashed out at the England Cricket Team for their approach in the ongoing Ashes 2023 against Australia. Notably, the hosts are already trailing in the five-match series after a defeat in the first Test at the Edgbaston in Birmingham. The World Test Champions Australia handed England a close defeat by a thrilling margin of two wickets.

Currently, both teams are locking horns in the second Ashes 2023 Test at the Lord’s in London. Australia got into a commanding position on the second day of the match thanks to Steve Smith's century after being asked to bat first by the hosts.

Coming back to Pietersen’s disappointment with England’s approach during the second Test, he harshly advised the English side to take some brave calls against the Australians.

“Come on, @englandcricket! Stand tall today and take it to the Australians. Stop being so nice and get some mongrel in you! Take those 5 wickets quickly and bat well! This is The Ashes and not an exhibition game!” wrote Kevin Pietersen in a tweet on his official Twitter handle.

These harsh remarks from the veteran of 104 Tests happened to draw a lot of reactions from cricket fans. Fans took to Twitter and mentioned a couple of drawbacks of the new ‘Bazball’ approach when it comes to executing the performances to get favourable results.

Here’s how fans reacted:

Speaking of the action of the match, the game of the second day is underway and Australia have scored 396 runs for the loss of eight wickets in 96 overs in their first innings so far. At the time of writing this article, Pat Cummins and Nathan Lyon, the two who helped Australia win the last match, are in the middle.

Josh Tongue and former skipper Joe Root have scalped three and two wickets, respectively, for England so far. Other than these two, Stuart Broad, James Anderson, and Ollie Robinson have also scalped one wicket each.
