The second Test in the New Zealand tour of England has absolutely been dominated by the visitors. The Black Caps were asked to bat first at the Trent Bridge, and they got off to a great start on the first day. They added 318 runs on the board on day one after losing four wickets. Daryl Mitchell and Tom Blundell were the stars of the day as they batted through the day and completed their half-centuries. Mitchell stayed not out on 81 runs, while Blundell scored 67 runs.

On day two, England had an opportunity to the advantage of overcast conditions early on, but they failed to do so. The Mitchell-Blundell duo continued to play brilliantly, and they were now seeking to attack more. Within the first hour, Mitchell also managed to get to his hundred.

In the 97th over, a slightly outward-moving ball took the edge of his bat and went through the gully for a four. Mitchell instantly knew it was a four, and took his helmet off to celebrate his hundred. The all-rounder scored his second century of the series and put the team in a great position.

Shortly after his century, Mitchell was dropped by Matty Potts off Jack Leech. In the 102nd over, he lofted a ball, and Potts had to cover a lot of ground. He did manage to get there, but the ball slipped out of his hands. The batter also stood there in shock as he was dropped.

Meanwhile, Twitter erupted with admiration for the all-rounder's back-to-back centuries. "The day after Daryl Mitchell first got picked in the test team I declared on Radio Sport that he shouldn't be a test cricketer. Very happy he continues to make me feel like a total idiot for such a piss poor take," a fan wrote.  "Two back to back hundred on England’s soil is par excellence," another fan rightly pointed out.
