Cristiano Ronaldo had a disappointing end to the FIFA World Cup 2022 when Portugal lost to Morocco in the quarter-final. It was his last chance to win this prestigious trophy for his team. But, he failed to deliver. However, before the World Cup in Qatar, Ronaldo made headlines when he gave an explosive interview regarding his former club Manchester United and manager Erik ten Hag.
As a result, the club terminated his contract and during that mega event, he became a free agent. After the World Cup, the search for Ronaldo’s new club was ongoing as no top European clubs were showing interest in the Portuguese superstar. Some reports came out that Ronaldo can join the Saudi Arabian side Al-Nassr. Now, reports have come out that Cristiano Ronaldo is going to join that club on 1 January 2023.
Fans went crazy after Al-Nassr FC confirmed the signing of Cristiano Ronaldo
Reports also suggested that Ronaldo will become the highest-paid athlete in the world after signing for that club. He is going to sign a two-and-a-half-year deal with the Pro League side. According to reports, Ronaldo is going to earn around €200 million per season at the Saudi Arabian club. However, on 31 December 2022, the reports turned out to be true as the Saudi Arabian side Al-Nassr announced the signing of Cristiano Ronaldo officially on their social media platforms.
On Twitter, Al-Nassr FC share pictures of Ronaldo holding their shirt with a caption: “History in the making. This is a signing that will not only inspire our club to achieve even greater success but inspire our league, our nation, and future generations, boys and girls to be the best version of themselves. Welcome @Cristiano to your new home @AlNassrFC.”
Ronaldo also expressed his happiness after joining the club. "I am fortunate that I have won everything I set out to win in European football and feel now that this is the right moment to share my experience in Asia. I’m thrilled for new experience in a different league and a different country. The vision that Al Nassr has is very inspiring. I am very excited to join my teammates, to help the team to achieve more success," Ronaldo concluded. Cristiano Ronaldo has penned a contract until June 2025 and the deal is believed to be worth more than 200 million euros.

Here is how fans have reacted to the signing of Cristiano Ronaldo to Al-Nassr FC:
Cristiano Ronaldo signing with Al-Nassr is a true embarrassment to the world of football. How can someone who is claimed to be the “Greatest Of All Time” give up playing at the highest level because no big club is interested in him? Shame on you Ronaldo for letting down your fans

I really was hoping for one last signing with a top European club before this semi-retirement move. He deserved it...
