Chennai Super Kings pacer Tushar Deshpande cleaned up Rohit Sharma in the 12th game of the ongoing IPL 2023. In the game between CSK and Mumbai Indians, the pacer bowled a jaffa of delivery against Sharma. This led to the fall of the first wicket for MI. After CSK's win against their arch-rivals, a statement from Deshpande went viral on social media.
On the other hand, the Mumbai-born pacer has denied those statements. The statement reads ‘Rohit Sharma It is easy to take wickets, he is not like Virat Kohli or AB de Villiers, different media outlets quoted Deshpande as saying. In reply to this fiasco, the right-arm pacer took to Instagram and posted screenshots of those news outlets misquoting him. He captioned 'I have absolute respect for all the legends mentioned above. I did not, would not make any such demeaning statements. Stop. Spreading fake news.'

Meanwhile, during the game, despite taking two wickets, Deshpande took some beating as well. After bowling three overs, he was taken down for 31 runs. Apart from this, he bowled a wide in the game and conceded quite a few extras in the game against Lucknow Super Giants, including a no-ball.
However, CSK skipper MS Dhoni said, after the game against Mumbai that the team believes in Tushar's ability.
'We believe in him. When you are new, you have a different sort of pressure. He had a very good domestic season, and we have been talking to him about his execution. He bowled a lot of no-balls, last two matches but is improving, The delivery he got Rohit out, was a beauty,' MS Dhoni said after the game against Mumbai Indians
